The German tax authorities have announced that online marketplace operators can submit a request to check the validity of domestic VAT ID numbers.
A request to confirm the domestic VAT ID number, name, address and details of the tax representative of the businesses selling via their market place, can be submitted to the German tax authorities.
Such a request must be submitted in writing via the contact function on the German tax authorities website
